Class is on tonight!

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I’m feeling better, and taking naps to store up energy for tonight! See you at the Dance Centre :)

Class is cancelled tonight.

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Wednesday’s class is still tentatively on, though many spots have been filled by Monday’s students making up for tonight’s missed class. Please get in touch if you’re interested in attending!

Possible class cancellations for this week only.

I am trying to recover from a kidney infection - I didn’t take it easy enough last week (it showed up last Saturday) so the first round of antibiotics haven’t cleared it as they normally should.

So, I’m being very very good and staying at home and resting all weekend, with the hopes that I’ll feel back to normal next week and be able to teach classes!

In case I don’t feel better and am unable to arrange a substitute, I am trying to collect contact information for all students. If you haven’t received an email from me (and you’re a registered Flow student), OR if you’re interested in dropping into class this week, please get in touch through the Contact page or by email to christa@christahoops.com and provide me with a phone number or suitable email to use for a late-afternoon contact.

Hopefully this will all go away soon - the last two weeks of class (and of watching online hoop videos!) have been very inspiring, and I have a ton of things that I want to try out and play with, and then bring to class to share with you!

Looking forward to feeling better,

Christa

Beautiful words from a student of mine…

Andrea started hooping this summer, and has been attending my classes once or twice a week ever since. She is a LiveJournal user, and included this in her New Years writings:

I’ve finally found a physical activity that makes me feel fit and wonderful, that has substantially decreased the amount of back pain that I suffer from, that has increased my posture, that has made me feel like I finally have a physical skill I can be good at that is mesmerizing. In 2010, I’m aiming to get to add FIRE. There’s just so many skills to learn, so many ways to connect those skills, so much personal style to infuse the movements with. I’ve never made new years resolutions to “lose weight,” when I look at the beginning of a new calendar year and am unhappy with my bod, I feel the desire to “get fit,” so that I can be comfy in my body. And I’ve finally found something that lets me do this with joy, and it challenges me wonderfully.

I love reading about people’s relationships with hooping, and Andi’s approach to physical health matches mine: do fun activities that make me feel good, and that allow me to enjoy my body’s abilities… for me, it isn’t about being at a specific weight or clothing size, but being active and happy and loving my body!

Along with continuing to make time for my personal hooping (Saturday Circus, plus hopefully some sessions at home during the week), my New Years health goals include putting a focus on getting enough sleep every night, and eating more fruits and vegetables. What about you?
