How do I register?
Registration is through the Roundhouse, (604) 713 1800 by phone or online at http://roundhouse.ca - search for “Hoop Play”.
Workshops are $38 for a 1.5 hour session, please bring an additional $5 if you need to rent a hoop!
The hoops used during the workshop will also be available for sale afterwards, prices start at $45. Participants who place an order for a custom hoop after the workshop will receive a $10 discount off the base price -or- a $10 credit towards a class at the Dance centre
What should I expect at a workshop?
First-time hoopers: in the two hours, you’ll work on waist hooping, turning and moving with the hoop, overhead and vertical hand hooping, lifts and drops, off-body moves, jumps and skips through, and a whole pile of transitions so you can flow from one move to the next! Don’t worry about mastering waist hooping in one day - even if the hoop doesn’t want to stay up just yet, there are a ton of other things you can learn without having that particular skill!
Intermediate/Advanced hoopers: You’ll be able to warm up while I get the first-timers started, then after a quick assessment, I’ll work with you to expand your repetoire with single hoops (building skills in both directions or ‘currents’) and double hoops (both on-body and poi-style).
Everyone will leave with tired arms, full brains, and a giant grin
